Del Mar Foods

Applications: Food Processing

Agriculture and food processing involves hundreds of energy-intensive operations. Due to the perishable nature of food products, many operations cannot shut down completely without serious loss. With the Energy Director, designated loads can be temporarily adjusted to precisely manage overall energy consumption within peak demand limits. Customers can use the system to monitor its operations and turn certain functions on and off within certain demand intervals, thereby reducing any peaks. This short load interaction is managed without interruption of vital operations such as air handling, heating, refrigeration, ventilation, lighting, recycling and waste treatment. The Energy Director controls critical processes that lead to a 10 – 40 percent reduction in peak demand and a savings of 5 – 10 percent of total energy bills.
